As a kid I would play in the woods using nature's debris as my props.  So it is with child-like delight that I create these magical expressions of the natural world.  My decorative art lamps are made from handmade paper, twigs and natural embellishments.  The paper is applied to the lamp frame while it is still wet.  Leaves, lichens and stones are added to reveal the lamp’s essence.
 
Each lamp has its own character.  To me they are living, breathing beings with a strong presence.  Some are sweet and tender; others are seductive and dramatic.  I name, sign and date each one.
          
These creations are truly a collaboration between the medium and myself.  The shapes speak to me and the malleability of the wet paper allows me to honor the integrity of the twigs and branches.  And as I play with the materials, a soul emerges.
